Pacific EV has just released its first battery management system to the public!
It is a fully-computerized system, able to update in the blink of an eye! Yes, less than 100ms, effectively realtime from the cells to your brain.
Some features:
Prevent every cell from under- or over-voltage
Balance cells during charge
Automatically reduce throttle to protect the batteries
Disable the DC/DC converter if it is over-discharging batteries
Disable charger if is over-charging the batteries
So far we support 60Ah and 90Ah and 100Ah cells from Thundersky and CALB (formerly Sky Energy).
This computerized device has numerous checks and safeguards to prevent any cell damage from temperature (high or low), over-discharge, over-charge, or even itself.
Can protect cell up to 400C charging rate
5 AMP (5000mA) bypass capability -- our competitors are 200mA...
With interface boards, able to communicate over CAN.
Thermal limiting of both self and the cell
ALL parameters are run-time adjustable!
You can change high and low set points
You can adjust when and how the bleeder resistors kick in
Even with that extensibility, the TBMS works without modification, right out of the box!
The TBMS cell unit even logs important events like how much balancing is occuring (allows you to identify if a cell is going bad) and excursions beyond safe limits (allows you to see if the protection systems were bypassed to over-discharge the cells).
This cell unit works with all our other equipment for throttle control, data logging, CAN interface, etc.
If you are providing your own stud-mount hardware for mounting the straps and BMS, you do not need to purchase any additional mounting hardware. The mounting hardware includes two appropriate-length threaded studs and four nuts (two for holding the strap down, two for holding the BMS unit down). You will need to use the flat washer and lock washer from the included hardware from Thundersky or CALB, but the bolts will not be used.
